After securing their first win of the season, the Miner Spirit was vibrant at the Don Haskins Center on November 10 as UTEP women's basketball (2-0, 0-0 Conference USA) competed against the Morehead State Eagles (1-2, 0-0 Ohio Valley Conference).
The Miners achieved a decisive victory, defeating the Eagles 68-41, which marks the beginning of the team's winning streak this season. The 27-point margin is the largest since December 2023.
In the first half, the Miners recorded a shooting percentage of 48.3% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc, and 87.5% from the free-throw line. More here

During the 2023-2024 season, UTEP men's basketball concluded with a commendable record of 18-16, placing fifth in Conference USA (C-USA).In his fourth year as Head Coach, Joe Golding has steered the program to be a strong contender for the C-USA championships and a potential berth in the NCAA March Madness tournament.
On November 4, UTEP men's basketball went up against Sul Ross State Lobos at the Don Haskins Center for their season opener. There’s no better way to boost a team's confidence for a successful season than by performing at their best in front of home fans, and UTEP seized that opportunity. On October 5, the UTEP men's basketball team made history by hosting its inaugural open practice in Ciudad Juárez at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ). March transitioned into April, marking the culmination of the NCAA women's and men's basketball tournaments for the 2023-2024 seasons.In the women's tournament, the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks claimed the national championship on April 7, triumphing over their formidable top-seeded rival, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and their renowned senior player, Caitlin Clark, with a final score of 87-75.
The game began with the Hawkeyes displaying impressive shooting skills, largely thanks to Clark.
